Peruvian/American Artist: Percy D. Palomino, professionally known as “Donjouv Dancer” was born in Huancayo, Peru in 1973 and immigrated to the United States of America in 1977. Towards the end of grade school, Donjouv formed his first dance group at the age of nine, “Captain Krunch & the Funky Bunch,” taking first place in a talent showcase at the Vanalden School Elementary, armed with only his fat laced, grey Chuck’s, Purple Members Only windbreaker and a Ghetto Blaster. The following year Donjouv joined the “Valley Boyz,” an Ultra-Wave/Electro Music dance group which included Harry “Brother” Binns and Duane “Defari” Johnson Jr. At the age of 15, Donjouv caught wreck and battled nightly in the Los Angeles Hip-Hop and House Music Scene and would soon become the youngest member of the “Scheme Team,” a bi-coastal hip-hop band founded and fronted by Mark “Divine Styler” Richardson, performing alongside artists; Malcolm McLaren, the Pharcyde, Ice-T, the Untouchables and Freestyle Fellowship. Donjouv now officially became emersed in the culture and was next featured in the Public Health Service Announcement Commercial, titled “No Smoking” choreographed by “Debbie Allen” along with the PEPSI commercial titled “Dance Duel” (S.A.G.).
